Men's Basketball opens with Central Carolina

Men's Basketball tipped off at home on November 1st against Central Carolina Community College. Due to COVID-19 Central Carolina was in the Division II league last year and Louisburg won both contests, but this year the game was non-conference.

The game started off with Louisburg on the free throw line getting out to an early lead, but at the end of the first 20 minutes Central Carolina was able to shrink the difference to 1 for a 40-39 half time score. In the end Louisburg claimed the victory 83-75 on good performances from newcomers Kevin Boykin and Jimmy Forte

Boykin had 7 offensive rebounds and 4 blocks. Forte led the Hurricanes in scoring with 20 points on 7-14 from the floor, 3-7 from 3PT.

Other scorers included: Luke Jones (12), Anthony Harris (10), Jahiem Niblett (9), Dedric Powell (8), Caleek Cobb and Boykin (7).

"It was nice to get off to a good start, but even better to finish the last 4 minutes out strong and find a way to win," said Coach Bryan Bagwell. "Congratulations to Jimmy and Kevin on great nights. We have to continue getting better."

The Hurricanes will take the floor again in the Louisburg Classic on Saturday. Their first opponent is Spartanburg Methodist at 4:00 pm.
