Men’s Basketball Grinds out win over CCBC Catonsville, 95-70

The #4 ranked Louisburg College men's basketball team won 95-70 Saturday evening in their second and final game of the Holiday Inn of Wake Forest Basketball Tournament. With the win, the Canes move to 2-0 on the season.

The Hurricanes were able to surge to a comfortable lead in the second half, but went into the half with only a 42-35 lead.

"We had to grind this one out," said head coach Neil Dixon of the contest.  "We battled foul trouble all game but that's the way it goes some days. "

Louisburg was lead in scoring once again by Jalen Gaddy who came off the bench to deliver a 21 point effort. He had five 3-point baskets including a stretch of three consecutive threes made in a critical stretch for the Canes.

"I can't say enough about Jalen Gaddy," said Dixon of his sophomore star.  "He's a key returner back from last year and is coming off the bench.  With his versatility he gives me  so much flexibility and I view him as a 6th starter."

Joining Gaddy in double figures were three other Hurricanes - Seth McCoy (15), Jordan Oakley (14) and Mikeil Watkins (12).

Dixon said of McCoy's return to form, "Seth McCoy got a haircut and a shave and got back to being the Seth we all know. He hit five threes and can really opens the floor when he's hitting - which is most of the time."

Louisburg returns to action in the Roger Taylor Classic next Friday, November 10th. Tip-off is set for 6pm against Caldwell Community College.
