Football moves to 3-0

Louisburg College football took on ASA College (Miami) Saturday at Louisburg High School. Louisburg won 29-6.

The Hurricanes kicked a field goal on their first drive and added 16 more points in the second quarter to be up 19-0 at the half. Neither team scored in the 3rd Quarter. Louisburg College scored 10 in the final quarter before ASA Miami scored their only touchdown.

"We are excited about how our players performed this weekend," said Louisburg head coach Quinderra Spellman.

The Hurricanes had 185 yards of total offense (111 passing, 74 rushing). Reed Charpia was 12-17 passing with 104 yards and 2 touchdowns. The leading receivers were Jake Riddle (3 receptions for 37 yards) and Jevon Myers (2 receptions for 23 yards). Damonte Furman also had 2 receptions for 14 yards. Jalen Brown and Raymond Hall had 1 touchdown reception respectively.

Zyaire Williams rushed for 42 yards (4.2 yards per carry) and Reed Charpia rushed for 28 yards (2.5 yards per carry). Gavin Gundaker added 3 field goals.

Defensively, Dre'shaun Taylor had 2 sacks. Malachi Grier had an interception. Evan Simons, Jakob Galluzzo, and Javius Brooks all had tackles for loss.

Coach Spellman continued, "We are taking steps in the right direction in the program, and our players have made tremendous strides in all phases of the game. It was great to see the culture that we are building with Louisburg Football. The excitement that our players have for each other has been amazing to watch." 

The win puts Louisburg College football at 3-0 on the season leading into a contest against Hocking College on October 2. The game will be played at Concord University. Kickoff is at 3:00.
