New Esports Coach at the helm for the Hurricanes

New Esports Coach at the helm for the Hurricanes

Louisburg College athletics announces Michael Statum as the new Head Esports Coach on August 21st.  Coach Statum returns to Louisburg excited about the budding Esports program and the potential it has.

"When Athletic Director Mike Holloman reached out about this opportunity, I couldn't resist.  Even if that meant no longer coaching soccer at the youth and college level."  Coach Statum was on staff here at Louisburg College in 2018 as the men's assistant soccer coach.  Before coming to Louisburg College, Statum was the men's and women's head soccer coach at Wake Tech for three years and held various positions within the Wake Tech athletics department assisting other head coaches in multiple sports.

Statum has always been an avid gamer, but during the pandemic, Coach Statum began gaming more and live streaming on Twitch playing various titles as well as competing at Wake Tech on their inaugural Rocket League team in the NJCAAE.  Coach Statum brings a wealth of knowledge having coached in the NJCAA for a decade, serving in the United States Marine Corps for over a decade, and having been a student/athlete for soccer and Esports in the NJCAA.
