Baseball has a good weekend

Louisburg College baseball was 3-1 over the weekend at home against WVU Potomac State College.

In game one, Tristan Snyder pitched a complete game shutout as the Hurricanes won 3-0. He gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1.

Zach Stanko led the Hurricanes with 2 hits in 3 at bats. Kody Abrisz had the other RBI for the Hurricanes.

In game two, Potomac State scored in the first inning, but no other baserunners crossed the plate until a Stanko RBI in the 6th to tie, and a Quintin Smith walk off RBI single in the 7th. The Hurricanes won 2-1.

Evan Saurez completed 6 innings of work on the mound giving up no earned runs, 5 hits, and 7 strikeouts. Ethan Snyder faced three batters in the seventh for the save.

In game three, the Hurricanes lost 4-3. Each team recorded 5 hits, but Potomac State was able to put together a 3 run 6th inning for the win.

Chris Sparber had a homerun and three RBI for the Hurricanes, but it was not enough.

Jared Miller was the starting pitcher for Louisburg allowing 3 runs over 5.1 innings. He had 5 strike outs. Philip Forbes got the last two outs of the 6th, but was credited with the loss. Josh Swartz pitched a scoreless 7th. 

In game four, the Hurricanes won 13-4. Louisburg scored first and by the 3rd inning got some separation on a Sparber sac fly and Potomac State error. Louisburg also had a big 6th inning on RBIs from Ryland Brown and Kody Abrisz.

Louisburg had 10 stolen bases in the game. Three belonged to Weisner.

Jake Roberti was the starting pitcher for Louisburg. He gave up 2 home runs and two earned runs in 3.1 innings; while Aidan Cooper, Ahmaad Goldson, and Ethan Snyder held Potomac State scoreless in relief.

After a good weekend, the Hurricanes will take on Gaston College at CaroMont Health Park on Wednesday afternoon.
