Baseball comes out on top in double-header

Baseball defeated  USC-Salkehatchie twice this weekend as games 3 and 4 were cancelled due to COVID-19 protocols.

In game one Louisburg took a 2-0 lead in the first and extended it to 4-1 after 2 innings. Then USC Salkehatchie went ahead after 3. In the end, Louisburg had a 6-run 6th inning to win 13-7.

The Hurricanes had 14 hits including home runs by Trendon Craig and Jared Glinski. RBI came from: Trendon Craig (2) , Eli Weisner (3) , Chris Sparber (3) , Jared Glinski (3), and David Cucci.

Tyler Hall started on the mound for the Hurricanes and went 3 innings. He gave up 3 earned runs. Tristan Snyder came on for two innings. K.J. Wells got the win pitching the 6th and 7th.

"Tyler Hall has been exceptional all year long for us and ran into a rough start," according to Louisburg head coach Blake Herring. "It was good to see our bullpen come into the game early in game one and hold their offense so that we could get back into the game and score late to win."

In the second game of the afternoon Louisburg collected the 9-2 win on a good pitching effort from Bennett Nance and Edmund Kayhko.

By the 5th inning the Hurricanes were up 8-0 and with extra base hits from: Dawson Painter, Noah Madison, David Cucci (2), Jonah Beamon; and Jared Glinski.

RBI came from: Eli Weisner, Dawson Painter, Noah Madison, Matthew Cotter (2), Jonah Beamon (4). From the plate Louisburg was 16-30 overall with 7 walks.

"We had more than a handful of players with multihit games throughout the course of the double header," said Coach Herring. "We are a team that's hard to beat when the bottom of our order is on base when the top of the order comes to the plate."

The wins take Louisburg baseball to 26-10 overall. The Hurricanes are scheduled to take on Harford Community College in a double header this Sunday, April 25.
