LC Drops Twinbill at Pitt

WINTERVILLE -- Louisburg College dropped a baseball doubleheader last Friday (February 15) at long-time rival Pitt Community College.

In the opener, Pitt shut out the Hurricanes by a 6-0 margin. The Bulldogs closed out the sweep in the nightcap by taking a 10-9 slugfest.

Game One saw Louisburg muster just four hits, two of which came from Josh Baker.

Pitt's Dylan Patrick worked six strong innings, striking out nine, before giving way to Will Liverpool for the top of the seventh and final inning.

The finale proved to be a thriller as the Hurricanes clawed back from an early deficit, only to see the Bulldogs rally to take the back-and-forth showdown.

Pitt took charge with a four-spot in the bottom of the first, only to see Louisburg respond with five runs in the top of the third.

The Bulldogs led 10-7 going into the top of the seventh, but the Hurricanes made things interesting with a two-spot -- but came up just a bit short.

Baker kept up his strong start for LC with a two-run homer, while leadoff hitter Sergio Burgos was 3-for-5.

Drew Camp and Phillip Boykin also went deep for the Hurricanes, who are now 2-4 overall this season.

LC was supposed to host Potomac State for a series last weekend at home, but that event was washed away due to poor weather.

The Hurricanes will host Wake Tech this Wednesday (February 20) at 6 p.m. at Frazier Field and will remain home this weekend for a four-game series versus Cuyahoga Community College from Ohio.
