Neal's 11th Inning Walkoff Lifts Canes to 7-6 Victory

The Louisburg College Baseball team defeated Bryant And Stratton College Wednesday afternoon by a final score of 7-6.  With the win, the Canes improve to 5-3 on the young season and are riding a three game winning streak.

The Bobcats jumped out early on starting pitcher Chase Webb striking three times in the top of the first inning before Webb settled in and held BSC to two runs over his final five innings of work.  He hung zeros on the board in innings two through five to keep the Hurricanes within striking distance.

The Louisburg relief trio of Ethan Meece, Kevin Westlake and Steven Cook slammed the door on the Bobcat offense by going the final five innings of play - striking out eight batters and not surrendering a hit.  Cook was credited with the victory after coming on in the ninth and finishing out the game.  He moves his record to 2-0 on the season.

Tucker Rogers and Zacchaeus Rasberry led the way offensively for the Canes with a 3-for-4 effort at the plate from Rogers including a double and a 2-for-5 afternoon from Rasberry who drove a 6th inning fast ball to the opposite field for an all important three run homer to get his team within one run of BSC.

The 11th inning saw the final fireworks when with two outs Derek Neal drove a 2-2 pitch into the parking lot beyond the left field fence to seal the victory in walk off fashion.

The Hurricanes return to action at home on Saturday when they will host Southeastern Community College for a 1pm Double Dip.
