Canes Run to Solid Performances at Mountain to Sea Invite

This week Hurricane Cross Country attended the Mountain to Sea Invite to head off with strong competition from UNC-Chapel Hill, UNCW, App State, Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston, Georgia State, Troy, Western Carolina, and Lees Mcrae.

In almost entirely NCAA Division 1 competition, the Louisburg men finished 6th of 9 teams and the women 9th of 10.

For the second straight meet the Canes were led by Jack Mastandrea, who stepped up with a Top 10 individual finish in 25:55 for 8000 meters, and Haley Sheehan, who ran over a minute faster than her previous season best to run 21:15

"We came to this meet for good competition and that is what we got. Although some of our team did not execute our race plan as desired and were dragged out a little faster than I would've liked to see, we competed very well" states Coach Hayman.

"Nearly everyone took a step forward today and ran a season best and on slightly tired legs from a solid week of training, so overall I was pleased to see how we ran."

Now the Hurricane men and women will take a week off to train before heading to the Queens Royal's Challenge in Charlotte.
