Lady canes basketball get conference win over Brunswick Community College

Louisburg College Women's Basketball outlasted Brunswick Community College 72-61 in Taylor Arena Thursday evening.

A tight game early, the Hurricanes were able to pull away with a 30-15 lead midway through the 2nd quarter. Nyla Bryant and Sydni Duncan combined for 13 points in the quarter to help build the lead.

In the third quarter Bryant continued her hot night, adding another 7 points of her 14.  Louisburg's defense held the Dolphins to just 9 points in that quarter, which allowed them to build a 20-point lead going into the fourth. Brunswick was able to battle back into the game forcing the Hurricanes to turn the ball over late in the game.  It wasn't enough and Louisburg held on to a 72-61 victory.

"We did a lot of good things on both ends tonight. We moved the ball well which led to some easy buckets. My biggest message to this team right now is consistency. When we are on our game, we look really good but we haven't put a full 40 minutes together yet.  We have a matchup with the region's top team on Saturday and it's going to take a complete effort to beat them," said Head Coach Jason Rasnake.

Louisburg travels to undefeated USC Salkehachie this Saturday at 2pm.
