Lady canes basketball team fall to conference foe Cape Fear CC

Saturday afternoon saw a matchup between two of the top teams in Region X women's basketball, as Louisburg College returned home for the first time in 5 games to take on Cape Fear Community College.

Both teams struggled to find their rhythm offensively early in the game as the first quarter saw the Sun Devil's up by two, 15-13. Offense finally started clicking for each team in the 2nd quarter but Cape Fear was able to push the ball in transition and extend their lead to 10 points at the half.

The two squads played even the rest of the game. The Hurricanes made a run early in the third quarter to cut the lead to 4 only to have the Cape Fear answer and push the lead to 10 again.

"I'm proud of the effort our players gave today. They left everything they had out on the court. We played even for three quarters and I thought we made some great plays on both ends of the floor. Credit Cape Fear for handling every push we made to get back in the game. We can learn from this and get better. It's a long season and we have a lot of basketball left to play," said Coach Rasnake following the 90-80 loss.

The Hurricanes are back on the road this Tuesday, November 26th against Lenoir Community College. Tip off is at 5 pm.
