Women's Basketball suffers first road loss of the season

Louisburg College women's basketball traveled to Cedar Bluff, Virginia on Saturday afternoon for a Region X matchup with Southwest Virginia Community College.  

Southwest Virginia's Malou Savama started the game hot, scoring 19 of her team's 26 first quarter points. The Hurricanes were able to find their own offense from freshman Nyla Bryant and sophomore transfer Star Bell-Freeman to pull within 6 at halftime.

Southwest Virginia  started the second half much like the first, jumping out to a 74-66 lead going into the fourth.  Louisburg was able to pull with two possessions late in the game, but the free throw shooting of the Eagles lifted them to an 88-80 victory.

"Early foul trouble hindered us this game," according to Coach Jason Rasnake. "Southwest Virginia had a good game plan and they executed it well today. I give our players a lot of credit for battling till the end and even on a night of tough shooting we were able to get back into the game.  Unfortunately we just fell short today."

The Lady Hurricanes will complete their road swing on Thursday with another Region X matchup at Guilford Tech.
