Louisburg repeats as Region 10 DII Softball Champions

At the Region 10 DII Softball Tournament held at Big League Camp, #1W Louisburg College successfully defended its title, going undefeated and capturing the championship with a 7–4 victory over #2W Cleveland Community College in Saturday’s final.

Tournament Highlights:

  • Opening Round Wins:

    • Cleveland CC started strong with a 9–1 run-rule victory over Pitt CC.

    • Louisburg dominated Richard Bland College 8–0 in six innings.

  • Louisburg's Dominance:

    • The Hurricanes rolled over Cleveland CC 8–0 in five innings in their Friday matchup.

    • In the championship game rematch, Louisburg overcame a spirited Cleveland side 7–4 to clinch the title.

  • Notable Performances:

    • Cleveland CC pulled off multiple upsets to reach the final, including a convincing 11–2 run-rule win over Bryant & Stratton College.

    • Bryant & Stratton, the #1E seed, fell short in back-to-back games against underdog Cleveland, ending their tournament run without a finals appearance.

Championship Game Summary:

Louisburg College’s consistent offense and dominant pitching proved too much for Cleveland, who had battled through the elimination bracket. The final win capped a perfect tournament run for the Hurricanes, who outscored opponents 23–4 across three games.

After securing the Region 10 DII Softball Championship with a dominant performance at Big League Camp, Louisburg College now sets its sights on the Atlantic District A & B Tournament to be held on May 9-10, where they will compete for a coveted bid to the National Softball Tournament at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, AL, scheduled for May 19-24, 2025.
