Joyner, Hilton On FPN All-American List

LOUISBURG -- A pair of Louisburg College softball players have earned national recognition by the Fastpitch News website.

Louisburg freshmen Haleigh Joyner and Sarah Hilton were both selected to the FPN's National Junior College Athletic Association Division II First-Team All-American List.

Joyner, a third baseman from Garner High School, made an immediate impact on the collegiate level this spring as she paced the Lady Hurricanes in batting average ( .490), home runs (17) and RBI (65).

Her on-base percentage (.551) and slugging percentage (.987) were also club highs.

Hilton, a second baseman from Ledford High School, wasn't far behind Joyner in the batting average department with an impressive mark of .485.

Hilton contributed 23 doubles, eight homers and 53 RBI to an offensive attack that was one of the NJCAA's most prolific unit.

"And the best thing about all of this is that these players will be back for us next year,'' Lee said.

Louisburg College went 38-11 overall this spring and won the Region X Tournament Championship.

The region crown qualified LC for the NJCAA Nationals, where the Lady Hurricanes reached the Elite Eight with a 2-2 mark in the double-elimination format.

FPN's top honorees on the NJCAA Division II level were Des Moines Area's Mia Ruther (Player of the Year) and Phoenix College's Brianna Hardy (Pitcher of the Year).
