Lady Canes Take Three From Bryant & Stratton

LOUISBURG -- Louisburg College's prolific offense continues to put up amazing numbers during the 2019 softball season.

Last weekend, the Lady Hurricanes plated 44 runs during a three-game home series against Region X opponent Bryant & Stratton at Sheilah R. Cotten Field.

Louisburg swept last Saturday's doubleheader by scores of 15-7 and 16-0 before finishing things off Sunday with a single-game victory by a tally of 13-4.

LC, now 28-5 and ranked 10th nationally, has now registered a whopping 270 runs in 33 games in 2019.

Last Saturday's opener  saw Louisburg rip 20 hits, including four from leadoff ace Mason Hedgecock.

Haleigh Joyner continued her amazing campaign by going 3-for-4 with four RBI, while Mallory Brooks tripled twice and drove in three runs.

LeeAnn Nobles also collected three RBI and notched the outing's lone longball.

LC finished off the twinbill sweep by picking up 15 more hits, including a grand slam from Leeann Kluk.

Joyner was sharp once again with a homer and three RBI.

Tamara Grayson was the winning pitcher, scattering three hits during her complete-game performance.

Sunday's series finale featured more of the same as LC used homers from Savannah Capobianco, Sarah Hilton, Joyner and Nobles to close out the weekend with a perfect 3-0 mark.

Grayson was once again the winning pitcher in place of injured ace Mary Anna Clement.

"We did everything that we should have done,'' said LC head coach Eric Lee. "Sometimes in college softball, you run into situations where you play to the level of your competition.  I challenged our girls to be the best they can be, and they did that very well.''

LC will host its annual Sophomore Day this Saturday during a home doubleheader versus Richard Bland College.

First pitch will be at 2 p.m. for the Lady Hurricanes' final home date of the season.
