Louisburg Takes Three From Wake Tech

LOUISBURG -- Forty runs scored, nine homers and just seven runs allowed.

Certainly, it was quite a day for the Louisburg College Lady Hurricanes as they rolled to a three-game sweep last Saturday at home against Wake Tech CC in Region X softball action.

LC won the opener by a 14-0 margin before finishing off the sweep with victories of 12-1 and 14-6.

The Lady Hurricanes, under second-year head coach Eric Lee, are now 10-2 overall this season.

"We did what we were supposed to,'' Lee said. "I am really pleased with our offensive output. We are an offensive machine right now. We are doing a good job of making it hurt when the other team makes a mistake.''

In the opening game, the Lady Hurricanes were never threatened after putting together a four-spot in the bottom of the second inning as Sarah Hilton and Haleigh Joyner smashed back-to-back longballs.

Tamara Grayson was the winning pitcher for LC as she scattered three hits over fine frames of work.

Louisburg kept the momentum in the second game as Jacie Arrington went deep twice as part of the Lady Hurricanes' four-homer uprising.

The finale featured more of the same as LC pounded out 15 hits to close out the productive day in impressive fashion.

Hilton and LeeAnn Nobles plastered home runs to give Louisburg 21 blasts for the young season.

The Lady Hurricanes will continue their schedule March 12 in North Myrtle Beach, S.C. with contests against Prairie State and Rend Lake.

Two days later, LC will return to Sheilah R. Cotten Field to entertain Southeastern Community College for a region doubleheader.
