LC Softballers Open With Home Sweep

Louisburg College kicked off its much-anticipated softball season in style last Saturday (Feb. 2) by sweeping a home doubleheader against Belmont-Abbey College.
Scores were 10-1 and 6-2 in favor of the Lady Hurricanes at Sheilah R. Cotton Field on the LC campus.
In the opener, LC scored in every inning of the five-inning matchup.
Already ahead 2-0, the Lady Hurricanes took charge in the bottom of the third with a four-spot that included a three-run homer from freshman LeeAnn Nobles.
Sophomore all-league returnee Mary Anna Clement pitched four innings to earn the victory. The Oxford native allowed just one hit while striking out six — and also went 3-for-3 at the plate with a home run.
In the finale, Tamara Grayson was the winning pitcher, giving up just one hit and one walk over four frames. Shortstop Bailey Perdue went 3-for-3 at the plate with one RBI and two stolen bases.
The Lady Hurricanes, coached by Eric Lee, will return to the diamond Feb. 15 with a home double dip versus Harford Community College. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m.
