Softball Announces Signing of 19 for '19 Season

Louisburg College Head Softball Coach Eric Lee has announced the signing of 19 student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to join the Hurricanes for the 2018-19 school year.  Among those 19 student-athletes are 14 freshmen and five transfers from four-year institutions.

"I'm extremely excited about the talent and character we have coming into our program," said Lee.  "Coach Lippard and I worked very hard to find the right kids to fit into our culture here at Louisburg and I think we've done just that."

The five transfers are Jacie Arrington (Ramseur, NC/Appalachian State), Mandi Bass (Pinetops, NC/NC Wesleyan), Mason Hedgecock (Wallburg, NC/Coastal Carolina), Bailey Perdue (Clayton, NC/Roanoke) and Brittany Williams (Hendersonville, NC/Limestone).  Coach Lee expects each of the transfers to come in and compete right away to have an impact on the 2019 season.

"When you have such a large number of freshmen entering your program, finding a way to balance that youth with some experience is paramount," said Lee.  "With only bringing back only four players from last year's roster, I felt we had to look hard to find some impact transfers."

The 14 freshmen on the team hail from North Carolina (10), Virginia (2), South Carolina (1) and Ontario, Canada (1).  Those student-athletes are Faith Williams (Mebane, NC), Caitlyn Brown (Walkertown, NC), Alleigh Clayter (Wilmington, NC), Skyler Roberts (Jacksonville NC), Savannah Capobianco (Wilmington, NC), Sarah Hilton (Thomasville, NC), Cristen Hipp (East Columbia, SC), LeeAnn Nobles (Lumberton, NC), Tamara Grayson (Front Royal, VA), Mallory Brooks (Wilmington, NC), Mary-Grace Crosby (Whitby, Ontario), Haleigh Joyner (Garner, NC) and Courtney Lamb (Clemmons, NC).

"This group of freshmen have played very high levels of softball and are prepared to play at the collegiate level.  We have kids who have garnered all kinds of awards throughout their careers and I have no doubt that will continue.  We have some well established travel ball organizations represented with this group as well from the Carolina Cardinals, Carolina Fire, Lady Lightning, NC Challengers and NC Rockders all being represented.  This is an exciting time to be a part of this program."

The Hurricanes return four players from last year's Region X Championship squad and open their fall season on September 16 at UNC Wilmington.
