Softball Closes Remarkable 2018 Campaign

In a year that took many twists and turns for the Louisburg College Hurricanes softball program, the team managed to rattle off another remarkable season.  Following a Regular Season Region X Title, the Hurricanes took off to Sumter, SC and steamrolled through the Region X Tournament, allowing just four runs in the event.  For their efforts at the Region Championship, the Canes were rewarded with a trip to Alexander City, Alabama where they would play for the District I Championship and the right to go to St. George, Utah and the NJCAA Division I National Championships.

Central Alabama proved to be too much for Louisburg and the unprecedented season came to a close.  "This team fought and clawed all year long to earn everything they got," said first year Head Coach Eric Lee.  "It was a constant uphill battle for this group of kids - from the injury bug, to shear lack of numbers, to all the adversity and change they dealt with throughout.  I could not be more proud of them than what I am."

Louisburg racked up postseason individual awards, too.  Freshman Liv Garman took home Region X Player of the Year honors and freshman Mary Anna Clement took home Pitcher of the Year for Region X.  Both Garman and Clement were named First Team All-Region and they were joined on the First Team by Summer Phillips.

The Hurricanes also landed five players on the Second Team All-Region X roster - Savannah Jackson, K'Lea Parks, Abbi Colclough, Sara Siwinski and Monica Pepe.

Louisburg returns a trio of All-Region performers from the 2018 season as they look forward to 2019 - Garman, Clement and Colclough.  Added to that trio will be Redshirt Freshman Leeann Kluk and a 15 player recruiting class consisting of players from all over the state of North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Canada.
