Hurricanes Continue to Impress with Performance at Queen City Invitational

The Louisburg Hurricanes Men's and Women's Cross Country team continued their impressive season as they headed to McAlpine Park in Charlotte for the Queens City Invitational. Racing against 30 Universities from schools all around the Southeast the Men's team came 7th while the Women's came 21st.
 
The Men's team (ranked 10th in the last NJCAA poll) should be moving up in the rankings as they finished 7th while beating 5 division one and 11 division two schools including North Carolina rivals UNC-Charlotte, Western Carolina, Lenoir-Rhyne, Lees McRae, and Shaw. The Men's team also had multiple PR's including Kyle Hinson who came in 15th with a time of 25:04, Andrew Inman 36th in 25:49, Albert Norman 45th in 26:00, and Walker Hirsch 83rd in 27:01. Rounding out the scoring was Anthony Hall 109th in 27:38. While Dennis McChesky 28:48, Maleik Small 29:28, Justin Olivas 29:34, and Zaire Jordan 31:35 rounded out the squad while also PRing for the Canes.
 
The Women's team (Ranked 23rd in the last NJCAA poll) also had a solid well rounded performance coming 21st while beating division two Coker, Lees-McRae, Paine, and Ferrum. The Women's team was led by Halei Ward who came 148th in 20:59, Hailey Euler came 154th with a time of 21:10 while Imperial Harris 21:54, Adanna Thomas 22:14, and Ashanti Patterson 24:10 rounded out the scoring for the Canes with PR's . While Michaela Ackerman 24:27 Rounded out the squad for Louisburg.
"I thought both teams competed very well" said Coach Josh Hayman. " Both teams had a lot of PR's which shows a lot about how far we have come as a team this season. However, there is still some work to do as we look to keep improving into championship season. The team we have is very good at putting in the work so I expect us to continue our team wide trend of getting better throughout the season."
Both the 7th ranked Men's and 23rd ranked Women's Cross-Country teams will be competing next Saturday at the Hagan Stone Invitational in Greensboro.
