Canes End  Regular Season with Great Performances

The Louisburg Hurricanes finished their meet Wednesday at the Liberty Twilight Invitational in the same manner that they have finished many this season, with record performances. 

The Canes were led by the sprint squad with many stellar performances.

On the Men's side Zion Munnelyn began the day with an outstanding performance in the 100 Meters running a blazing time of 10.86 Meters. The mark would break his old school record of 10.97. The sprinting success would continue in the 200 Meters with a bunch of PR's as Aveon Reid, John Connolly, Donovan Ritter, Tyler Burns, and Munnelyn all set personal records. The season ended with 12 runners running under 23 seconds in the 200 Meter event.

Zach Boyers had very good performances in the throws coming in 11th in the discus and 3rd in shot put. Jamison Kyles also establishes a school record in the hammer throw event. 

On the distance side, Zaire Jordan broke the 2-minute barrier for the first time running 1:59.31. Albert Norman also ran a great performance in the 1500 of 4:09. 

Tayshaun Chisholm had the prominent  performance of the day on the Men's side setting the school record twice in the 100 Hurdles. Tayshaun began the day by running 14.21, and ended it by running 14.00. Tayshaun was once again the first collegiate in the race, and his time of 14.00 places him second in the NJCAA.

On the ladies' side records were also broken, capped off with a strong performance in the 4x100 Meter Race.

To begin the day Tamiyah Megginson, Dominique Branch, and Daijah Miles all ran PR's in the 100 Meter race. Miles' 12.36 clocking shattered the old school record of 12.65. In the 200 it was more of the same as Miles, Branch and Ashley Pearce all ran PR's. Pearce's Clocking of 25.32 once again shattered the Louisburg school record adding to the collection of record-breaking performances on the day for the ladies.

The Lady Canes finished the day by setting another school record and qualifying the first ever female relay to NJCAA Nationals in the history of the school. Their time of 48.65 broke the school record and surpassed the national qualification mark of 48.78 as the team booked their tickets to New Mexico.

The Canes will finish their season at NJCAA Division 1 Nationals on May 16th in Hobbs, New Mexico.
