Track and Field Concludes Regular Season at App State and Liberty Twilight with National Qualifiers

Boone, NC & Lynchburg, VA- The Cane's completed the regular season with back to back meets SaturdayWednesday at Appalachian state and then Liberty for a last chance meet for part of the team competing for their final qualifiers into the NJCAA National Championships.
 
In Boone at high altitude, the team concluded the competition with 6 top 10 individual finishes and 1 event overall winner in Chancey Gunnell running 57.00 in the 400 for a new personal record and school record. She also went on to finish 4th overall in the 200.
 
Zach Boyers was the next highest finisher launching the shot for 5th place overall.  Anthony Hall ran a personal best in the 800, breaking the 2 minute barrier for the first time running 1:59.9 for 7th overall and Javier Alejandro ran a personal best of 4:07 in the 1500. 
 
In Lynchburg the prominent result came from Zach Boyers, heaving a 15.51 meter throw, good enough to finish 2nd overall and be ranked 12th overall in the country. Chancey Gunnell also ran a near personal best in the 400 to finish 4th overall in the event. Finally, Colton Jordan had a personal best in the 1500 by over 7 seconds to run 4:08 and win his heat. 
 
Next the Canes head to El Dorado, KS to compete in their first Outdoor NJCAA National Championship.
