Canes Get National Qualifiers at Duke Invite

Durham, NC. - The Louisburg Track & Field team finished the two-day Duke invite with many personal best performances racking up a total of 3 national qualifiers, 3 school records and 8 personal best performances. In total the 'Canes went head to head against 1,300 athletes and stiff competition from Division 1 and 2 level programs from around the region. The highest finisher for Louisburg was Zach Boyers  finihsing 10th overall with a throw of 15.40 meters in the shot put and is now 14th in the country for NJCAA. 
 
Jack Mastandrea also climbed the national rankings after racing the 5,000 meter run in the invite section against Duke, William & Mary, and Virignia Tech competitors to push him to a 14:51 school record and 10th overall rank in the country. Kyle Hinson was shortly behind in 15:11. Both remain ranked 1 and 2 in the country for the 10,000. 
 
Sophomore Javier Alejandro debuted in his first outdoor race of the season with a 1500 personal best of 4:07.7 with freshman Anthony Hall just ahead of him in 4:07.5. 
 
On the women's side of the competition Chancey Gunnell led the way for Louisburg with a nearly 2 second personal best run in the 400 meter going 57.39 that puts her 18th in the country. Hailey Euler also competed in the 1500 and dropped 15 seconds from her best time to run 5:20.
