Hurricanes mens soccer begin the season ranked 20th in NJCAA Division One poll

The Louisburg College men's soccer team will begin the regular season No. 20 in the NJCAA Division I poll. The Hurricanes, won the Region X Championship last season before falling 1-0 to Eastern Florida in the district semi finals. Louisburg will play four nationally ranked teams during the early portion of their season before concluding Region play. 

Head Coach Ted Awana is excited about the early season ranking and expects big things from his talented squad this season."We have one of toughest Districts in the country. Games will be challenging as our Region continues to add new programs."

The Hurricanes will return seven projected starting sophomores along with a talented incoming freshmen class. "I'm happy with our incoming class. We have some talented attacking players going forward."

 

The Hurricanes kicked off the 2019 season at home with a 2-0 start. Louisburg defeated USC-Sumter 5-1 on Saturday and ended the weekend with a 12-0 win over USC-Union. 

"We will improve every day and learn from each game. We must be punctual and continue to work hard in training to prepare for our next pair of matches."

 

Up next, the Hurricanes travel to Georgia and will play #10 Georgia Military Saturday August 31st,  before taking on #17 Daytona State Sunday September 1st.  Both games are set to kickoff at 12:00 PM.
