Men's basketball pull away in the 2nd half to defeat Patrick Henry CC on Wednesday Night

Louisburg College men's basketball opened up second semester play at Patrick Henry Community College on Wednesday night.

The game began with the Hurricanes falling behind. The halftime score was 47-41 with Patrick Henry in the lead, but Louisburg was able to pull out the victory winning the second half 50-38.

Antonio Patterson led the Hurricanes with 26 points. He was 5-5 from the free throw line and collected 10 rebounds—including 6 offensive rebounds. Malik Bryant contributed 21 points for the Hurricanes and was 10-11 from the free throw line. Bass Diop contributed 7 rebounds down the stretch.

"Patrick Henry plays really hard, and they outcompeted us in the first half," according to Coach Bryan Bagwell. "Jah'Quez [Sanders] led us with his energy in the second half and things changed. He had several early rebounds and had great on ball pressure. Then Bass Diop and Antonio Patterson pursued the rebound really well and broke open the 80-80 tie."

The Hurricanes were able to come away with the win 91-85, but in the game both Jalen Harris and De'Shone Hicks went down with injuries.

The Hurricanes take on Region X opponent, Wake Technical Community College, on Saturday in Raleigh at 4 pm.
