Men's basketball lose close game to conference leader Davidson County CC

Louisburg College men's basketball was defeated Saturday in a highly contested match up against 1st place Davidson County Community College. 

Davidson got out to an 11-22 lead, but by the 8 minute mark in the 1sthalf Louisburg tied the game at 28-28. Soon thereafter Louisburg got in foul trouble and Davidson was able to go into the locker room up 49-40 at halftime.

"Our team has gone through a lot in the past few days. It was exciting to watch us fight back against a good Davidson team. When foul trouble or other setbacks came the guys kept fighting," said Coach Bryan Bagwell.

Louisburg came out to start the second half on a 11-4 run propelled by their defense. By the 8:00 mark Louisburg had taken the lead. With 2:03 to go Louisburg extended that lead to 87-78, but in the closing seconds Davidson's point guard got to the basket to put them up 94-92. The Hurricanes did not convert their chance at a game winning shot. 

Jordan Beale led the Hurricanes with 20 points. De'Shone Hicks added 17. Four Hurricanes finished the games with 3 steals a piece.

 

The Hurricanes do not have a mid-week game as exams begin this week. Competition will resume this weekend. To wrap up the first semester the Hurricanes will host Southwest Virginia Community College and Vance-Granville Community College on the 14thand 17threspectively.
