Hurricane men's basketball lose a close game to Spartanburg Methodist 81-79

Louisburg College men's basketball lost in an exciting contest against Spartanburg Methodist College last Saturday. 

The Hurricanes opened the game 10-5, but by the 8 minute mark Spartanburg Methodist tied the game at 20. By halftime Louisburg went into the locker room down by 4. Most of the afternoon it was a 2-point game, which is how it finished. Spartanburg Methodist took the victory 81-79.

 

"We played better offense today. We were unselfish with the ball and made Spartanburg Methodist guard us," said Coach Bagwell. "Spartanburg Methodist deserves credit for getting several big offensive rebounds down the stretch that changed the game." 

Those offensive rebounds extended Spartanburg Methodist's lead to 8 under the 3:00 mark, but Louisburg got several steals in the last 1:30 to cut it to 2 points with a shot to win it at the buzzer. 

Terrelle Bowens led the Hurricanes with 25 points He was 9-11 from the floor, 6-7 from the free throw line, and had 7 steals. 

Other stat getters were Aaron Simmons with 8 rebounds and Jordan Beale with 4 assists.

 

The Hurricanes take on Central Carolina Community College on Monday at 7 pm. This is their last game before they resume Region X play after the Thanksgiving Break.
