LC Goes 2-1 For Week

LOUISBURG -- Louisburg College's emotion-filled men's basketball week finished with the Hurricanes posting a 2-1 mark against a trio of Region X opponents at the Taylor Center.

Last Monday, LC reversed its trend of dropping close games by edging Wake Tech 101-98 as Jordan Beale nailed the game-winning trifecta with just three seconds remaining.

Two days later, the Hurricanes trailed at halftime but rallied to defeat backyard rival Vance-Granville 91-69 on Scholar-Athlete Night as Beale delivered 24 points to go with seven assists.

Louisburg's winning streak was stopped in heartbreaking fashion last Saturday 89-88 in overtime against Guilford Tech.

The Hurricanes forced the extra session with a buzzer-beating trey from DeShone Hicks, but the Titans returned the favor by converting a contest-winning jumper in the closing seconds of overtime.

Aaron 'Tank' Simmons came through with a double-double of 30 points and 10 rebounds for the Hurricanes, who are now 10-12 for the season.

LC will host Patrick Henry this Saturday (February 9) as part of a men's-women's doubleheader at Taylor Center.

The women's game will tip off at 1 p.m., followed by the men's event at 3 p.m.
