Canes Clinch!

The Louisburg College Men's Basketball team overpowered Lenoir Community College on Wednesday night inside Roger Taylor Arena with a final score of 98-64. With the win, the Hurricanes have clinched the outright regular season Region X Championship.

In a game that was never close, the Canes used defense to create offense and put on a clinic of dunks and threes that kept the home crowd roaring. Jordan Oakley (16), Jalen Gaddy (13) and Lewis Freeman (12) were all in double figures scoring on the evening.

"Our first goal for the season was win the conference regular season championship and we accomplished that tonight.  It's not easy to have a target on your back every game out but my guys have embraced the challenge and really responded," said third year head man Neil Dixon.

The Hurricanes cleared the bench and every player who was dressed got in the scoring column.

"All 13 guys played and scored tonight.  I hoped we would be able to get those guys in tonight.  They work hard every day.  Ismiell Etienne has no idea how good he can be.  The growth that kid has made from August until now is amazing.  He just gives us something at the rim that no one else does.  I'm excited to watch him grow over the next year."

The Region X Champions will close out the regular season at home on Saturday with a 3pm tip against Pitt Community College.

Following the contest with the Bulldogs, the Hurricanes will head to the Region X Tournament and then to Danville, Illinois for the NJCAA National Championships.
