Canes Race By Vanguards, 97-69

The Louisburg College Men's Basketball team hosted Vance-Granville Community College in a Wednesday night contest resulting in a 97-69 Hurricane win. The game featured a host of role changes as sophomore forward, Jordan Oakley, sat the game out with a minor injury. Oakley will return to the lineup for Saturday's contest.

The Vanguards were able to keep things relatively close early, staying within ten points, before the Canes used a spurt of 14 consecutive points to put some breathing room between themselves and visiting VGCC. Louisburg outscored Vance-Granville 12-7 over the final three minutes of the first half to lead 57-30 at the break.

The teams traded buckets for most of the second half as the Canes cruises to the finish line and won convincingly 97-69.

Armoni Lee led the scoring for Louisburg with his 20 points. He was joined in double figures by five other Canes - three off the bench - including Jalen Gaddy with 14 and Seth McCoy with 15 on five triples from beyond the arc.

"I cant say enough about Armoni Lee," said Head Coach Neil Dixon. "He could hardly walk after Saturdays game with a tight back, and gets back out on the floor and never misses a beat.  He just does so much for us, when he's hitting shots like he was tonight he's as good as there is in the league."

The Hurricane bench set the tone with 53 of the team's 97 total points on the evening.

Louisburg will return to action on the hardwood Saturday afternoon for a 3pm tip at Guilford Tech.

Louisburg now sits atop the Region X standings at 10-2 in league play while boasting a 17-4 overall record as they head down the stretch run.
