Keith Shumate Named as Baseball's New Skipper

LOUISBURG, NC – Louisburg College Director of Athletics Michael Holloman has announced the hiring of Keith Shumate to the position of Head Baseball Coach.

"We are excited about the hiring of Coach Shumate," said Holloman. "He did a great job at North Carolina A&T State University as he made that program better each year which will help him lead this program effectively. He is a great hire for this program as he has a great deal of experience as a head coach and he knows what needs to be done to keep the Hurricanes at the top of the Region and the country."

Shumate spent 15 seasons as the Head Baseball Coach at A&T where he left his post with over 300 wins. Under his direction, the Aggies made the conference championship game four out of his last seven years and picked up one regular season and one tournament title. Prior to NC A&T, Shumate spent three seasons coaching at Grimsley High School in Greensboro.

Keith attended Western Carolina University where he played baseball under legendary coach Jack Leggett. While at WCU he also earned his Bachelor of Science in Education with an emphasis on Spanish.

Shumate will assume his duties immediately as the Hurricane baseball team will commence their offseason workouts in late August.
